Before You Schedule
Review our prices: Please review our Prices & Services page(opens in new tab) (opens in new tab) before requesting an appointment so you know the cost of your pet's surgery and what is included.
Minimum age & weight: Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and 2 lbs (0.9 kg) for surgery.
Dog weight limits: We accept male dogs under 40 lbs and female dogs up to 75 lbs.
Vermont residents: Appointments are currently limited to animals belonging to Vermont residents. Due to high demand, we ask those with access to other veterinary options to consider using them, helping us preserve appointments for Vermonters with fewer options for affordable spay/neuter care.
Has your dog recently been in heat? Please wait at least 4 weeks after bleeding has stopped before scheduling her surgery. Cats may be spayed while in heat.
Breeder-purchased cats: We do not accept cats purchased from breeders.
Brachycephalic pets: We do not alter brachycephalic (short-nosed) cats or dogs.
Rabbits: We do not perform rabbit spay/neuter.
Deposits & Payments
Cats: $45 deposit
Dogs: $100 deposit
Deposits are applied toward the total cost of services. Your credit card will be charged the deposit fee only.
We request the remaining balance in cash at check-in. If you need to put the entire amount on your card, please email us.
Cancellations: Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in forfeiture of your deposit.
No appointments available? If you don’t see an available date, our current schedule is full. Please keep checking back! New appointments are added as they become available.
After Requesting an Appointment
Appointment requests are reviewed by our staff and are not confirmed immediately. Please allow a couple of days to receive your confirmation and avoid submitting duplicate requests.
Confirmations are sent by email from info@vt-can.org. Please check your spam folder if you don't see a response.
